Italy’s western coast evokes breathtaking views, salty sea air, and the freshest seafood and produce imaginable. At Amalfi Ristorante Italiano, Executive Chef and Owner Giancarlo Ferrara and his wife, Manager and Owner Lisa Ferrara, bring the culinary traditions of the Amalfi Coast to Houston.
Born in Salerno, the largest coastal city on the Amalfi Coast, Giancarlo was raised in its rich culinary tradition and attended culinary school there at Centro Professionale Alberghiero in Salerno. He prepares traditional Italian recipes using classic techniques, fresh ingredients, and carefully selected products. Our cuisine is rooted in the flavors, aromas, and time-honored traditions of his homeland, creating an authentic coastal Italian dining experience.

Raised in Salerno, the largest coastal city on the Amalfi Coast, Italy, Giancarlo Ferrara—the youngest of seven children—often found himself beside his mother in the kitchen. There, he absorbed lessons that can only be learned through time, patience, passion, and love.
Inspired by his culinary roots, Giancarlo attended Centro Professionale Alberghiero in Salerno, where he graduated first in his class. He continued his education through master courses at Scuola di Arte Culinaria Étoile before beginning a career in some of Italy’s finest restaurants.
His culinary journey later took him to Dublin, Ireland, where he worked at the two-Michelin-starred Patrick Guilbaud. These experiences deepened his appreciation for exceptional local and seasonal ingredients—principles that continue to guide his cooking and remain cornerstones of his menus today.
